Print from the App

To use the app for printing:

1.  Download the Spot Global Print app from your app store or by clicking here. The app (made by Librarica) is available for Android, iOS, Amazon (Kindle Fire), Chrome (Chromebooks), Windows, and macOS. The Spot Global Print app allows you to be completely anonymous and does not require registration or an account, email address, phone number, or a library card (though you may log in with your library card if you have prepaid funds you wish to use).

2. Open the app and choose our library Buchanan District Library (MI) for the pickup location. Make sure BDL Global Printer is the selected printer, and make note of your PIN; you will need that later to release your prints. (Note- if you are using Windows, you may need to choose black & white and double-sided options here in the app)

The image shows a printing app interface for selecting a pickup location and printer, with pricing and a PIN for job claims.

3. Close the app and navigate to your desired print job. From there,  print using your device’s native printing procedure– usually by going to File, Share, or the menu icon (3 dots or 3 lines) and choosing Print.

4. Choose your options using the drop down arrow menus (or the print dialogue menu on Windows, keeping in mind those options you chose in the app). For the printer, choose BDL Global Printer. Confirm the settings (color/b&w, which pages, double-sided or not, etc) and then tell it to print (or tap printer icon). If you don’t have good internet signal, it may say it can’t connect to the printer. If you're in the library, connect to our Patron Wireless wifi and try it again. Your print job will be held for up to 72 hours until you come into the library and release it.

 5. Release your prints at the library. You can either talk to staff at the Front Desk to pay for and release your prints (required if paying with credit card or your print job costs more than $10), or go directly to the Print Release Station Computer near the copier and Front Desk.
-Tap or swipe the computer screen to bring up the login box. The text box for Spot Globall Print PIN/ID may be hiding behind the touchscreen keyboard. Tap the X on the touchscreen keyboard to close it and use the physical keyboard to enter your global print PIN.  You can open the Spot Global Print app on your device to see the PIN. (If you don't know your PIN or don't have your device with you, check with staff.)

The image shows a login prompt for printing jobs, requesting a Patron ID, phone number, and a SPOT Global Print PIN.

-Alternatively, if you are using a prepaid library account, log in with your library card number and phone number, then enter your Spot Global Print PIN/ID in the box to the left of the Show Print Jobs screen. Most people will not need to log in this way.

The image shows a print job interface with the name "Pamela Salo," a global print ID, and details of a Microsoft Word document.

-Tap your print job. You can hold the shift or ctrl keys on the physical keyboard to select more than one job at a time. The cost for the print job(s) will display at the bottom of the screen.
-Insert coins or bills in the Pay Station. This will show up as your Vending Balance or Total Funds on the computer screen. Once you've inserted enough cash, you can then tap Print on the Computer.  When finished, tap Close. Any change will eject automatically.

The image shows a print job window with details for a document, including options to print, delete, or close.
