Summer Reading 2026 Beanstack Challenge

Join us on our dinosaur adventure as we Unearth a Story! This year’s theme encourages you to “dig in” and uncover the joy of discovery that reading brings! Everyone can participate in this points-based reading program for all ages.
Summer Reading is again online using Beanstack!
- Register online or in the library starting June 1. Everyone who registers gets a free book!
- Track your reading in minutes from June 12 through August 1 using Beanstack or a paper log (stop by the library to pick up a paper log or download it below).
- Earn points for logging reading, writing reviews, attending events, and completing activities. *NEW THIS YEAR* Each 30 minutes of reading and each activity completed is worth 1 point.
- Points are redeemable for Reading Rewards in increments of 5 starting June 19 (for adults too!). Redeem them each week or save them up for a bigger Reward! Reading Rewards will max out at 200 and choice of Rewards is first come, first served.
- Last day to log progress is August 1. Last day to redeem Rewards is August 14. If family members want to combine Rewards for a bigger prize, they may after August 1.
- Even if you've maxed out your rewards, keep reading, because awards for 1st and 2nd place will be presented in each age category:
- 0-4 years old
- 5-8 years old
- 9-12 years old
- 13-17 years old
- 18+ years old
- There will also be a random drawing for each age category. The Awards Ceremony for youth 0-17 years old will be held Thursday, August 6 at 12:00pm on the Common Stage. Thanks to the Buchanan Lodge #68 Free & Accepted Masons for sponsoring our awards!
*COMMUNITY CHALLENGE*
Can we all work together to read more minutes than we did during Summer Reading 2025? Let's beat our goal of 830,00 minutes! Who do you think will read more, kids or adults? Watch the Challenge Wall in the library to see which age group is leading the pack!
Note: Most activity badges have more than one activity listed. Each activity completed within the badge earns you points, even if only 1 activity is required to earn the badge. For example, in the "Go to an Event- Week 1" badge, there are many events you can attend. Going to Preschool Storytime will earn you the badge and a point, but you can also go to Stop, Lunch, & Listen, the Farmer's Market, a concert on the Common, etc, for additional points. There are many ways to earn points and Reading Rewards this summer!
Reminder: Participants or their parent/guardian must have a library card in order to be a top reader or drawing winner. Our Summer Reading Program is based on the honor system, so be sure to report your reading times honestly and accurately. Please check your reading log throughout the program and let us know if any entries need to be deleted. The Library reserves the right to reject an entry if there is reason to believe that a participant hasn't followed the guidelines of the program. If Beanstack is being buggy for you, track on a paper log and staff will be happy to add it to your Beanstack account.
We have many fun events planned for this summer. Checkout our programming pages for more info!
