Renew, reserve, request or defer an item?

From an internet browser on a computer or mobile device:

To Renew an item please log into your library account using your 14 digit library card number and your telephone number.  When you click on MY ACCOUNT you will see an Items Out/Renewal tab.  You can then see the books you have checked out and a button that says Renew.  If the book is available to renew the date due will be updated. *If the item is a MeLCat Interlibrary Loan item, call the library to renew or log into MeL to renew online. MeLCat items will not be renewable through your account in the library's catalog.

To Reserve an item please log into your library account.  If the catalog shows the item you want is not available, or you'd like us to pull the book for you to  pick up later, simply click on the Reserve This Item button.  You will be notified when the title becomes available.  You have 3 business days to pick up the reserved item.

Is the library missing something? To Request the library purchase an item,  log into your library account, click on the Reserves/Requests tab, and click the request link. To request an item through Interlibrary Loan, go to mel.org. To request the library purchase a digital title on Overdrive, call or ask at the Front Desk, or send an email to laura.hauch@buchananlibrary.com.

Going out of town? In the same section you  can Defer your reserves until you get back.

Have some favorite authors?  Receive new books automatically.  Access this feature by logging into your library account and going to the Reserves/Requests tab to choose your favorites!

Buchanan District Library now has an app! It's now super easy to search our catalog, reserve and renew items, checkout eBooks and digital audiobooks, stay informed about library events, and more!

How to get started:

Download the myLIBRO app

  • Go to your app store and download the myLIBRO app.

Set up your account

  • Search for Buchanan District Library and log in with your library card number and phone number (PIN).
  • Add family members by swiping sideways on the blue account box and tapping “Add library card.”
    • To switch accounts, swipe to the account you wish to use and tap "Activate" in the top left of the blue account box.

Check your account, search for titles, & more!

  • Reserve and renew materials and check their status
    • The icons at the bottom of your blue account box are as follows:
      • Bag icon- this shows your pickups, or reserves that are ready to be picked up.
      • Book icon- this shows your holds, or items you have on reserve that aren't ready yet. Tap on the "Cancel" button to cancel your reserve. Tap on a title to see more details, including your position in the reserve queue.
      • Shopping cart icon- this shows your checkouts. Tap the "Renew" button to renew (If the item is a MeLCat Interlibrary Loan item, call the library to renew or log into MeL to renew online). Tap on a title to see more details. If the item is an eBook or digital audiobook, tap "Return" to return early or tap "Read Now" to read or listen in the myLIBRO app (requires internet access to read/listen).
      • Bookmark icon- this shows your wishlist. You can save titles for later (without having to reserve them now) by tapping the bookmark icon in the corner of any title graphic to add to your wishlist.
    • If you have a larger font size enabled on your phone, you may not be able to see the icons. Set your phone to a smaller font and the icons should show up.
  • Search by title, author, keyword, or subject by tapping the "Search" icon at the bottom of the screen. Browse by subject or the New & Popular titles lists on the Home screen.
  • Checkout and read/listen to eBooks and audiobooks (requires internet access to read/listen. To download for offline access, download the Libby app).
  • View library information like hours, upcoming events, the library's Facebook feed and YouTube Storytime playlist.
  • In the library but forgot your library card? Tap the barcode icon at the top right of the blue account box to bring up your scannable library card barcode!
  • Connect to Amazon’s Alexa and ask her about your library account!
    • For instructions to set up Alexa and other frequently asked questions, checkout the FAQ by tapping the person icon at the top right of the blue account box, then tap the "Help & Support" box.
